Kind of a dead one here too, but I'll try.
1.) Dead day for the boys but a couple hat tricks - Tim Beal had 3 for VVS in their 5-1 W over Camden, and Andrew Stilwell scored thrice in Herkimer's 5-2 W over Little Falls. The last one interests me for 2 reasons - #1 being Little Falls (0-15) is now one game away from finishing off their defeated season (#NotFabFive), but also because as a Herkimer HS graduate that was very involved in athletics during & after high school... really don't remember the last time a Herkimer boys soccer player netted a hat trick.
2.) 2 goals for Claire Stackel in Copenhagen's W over Sackets Harbor today. Doesn't sound like it matters - but those 2 put her at 98 career goals. The junior could crack 100 next game - she actually could've a while ago, but I call her Dime City. She has 64 assists to go with those 98 goals.
3.) Katelyn Karleski was the lone goal hero for Westhill in their 1-0 W over the Skaneateles Lakers. Slightly better outcome for them than last time, when they played to a 2-2 draw (really recently). Westhill's #3 in the state in Class B, and they have a hell of a tilt to end the regular season against #8 Cazenovia Saturday.
4.) The fockey love of the day! Sophie Craig isn't just a member of the Two First Names Club - she's now a lone goal heroine. She scored in the 1st half, then Kerry Beeler and the defense held their own and Fayetteville-Manlius held the 1-0 decision over Liverpool.
5.) It's Frontier playoff time! The playoffs before the playoffs. Cassie Birth is a winner - 2 goals & 2 dimes for her in Carthage's 4-1 W. The Frontier finals in A will be Carthage/Watertown, another solid battle.
The Post-Standard is highlighting the NFF and a lot of XC this week. The word of the day is boredom. I respect the P-S - if that's what they're pushing, this isn't the world's most wonderful week. The calm before the storm, hopefully!
